Lifter
This was an interesting "How to" piece for Wired, in which they showed their readers how to build a "Lifter," which is basically a balsa wood frame wrapped in tin foil and wire. When the lifter is connected to a very high-voltage power supply, the stream of electrons flowing from the wire to the tinfoil actually creates an air current which cause the device to levitate.
